Cheverme is a traditional Bulgarian meal made especially for celebrations. It is basically a whole lamb impaled on a stick and roasted for about five- six hours. The way it is cooked makes it unique and very delicious.
It looks like a pancake made of potatoes, cheese and butter, but it really is so much more! It is a traditional dish for the Rodophi area of Bulgaria.
At least two different types of meat are mixed with rise and fermented cabbage. All that is put in a clay pot and baked for one hour. One of the most delicious meals in the Bulgarian cuisine!
Everybody knows Bulgaria is famous for its yogurt. We even have a soup that’s made of it- tarator. Tarator is made from yogurt mixed with water and thin slices of cucumbers and spices.
This is probably the most common bulgarian meal. You can buy it from allmost every street. You should at have at least one breakfast with banitsa during your stay in Bulgaria.
